A clear path

Guides

Step-by-step help for questionnaires, exports, AI prompts, and partner sharing.

Quick Start (5 steps)

  1. Choose a reflection

Go to Choose a reflection and pick the reflection that matches what you want to explore today.

  2. Complete Quick or Full

Quick gives momentum. Full gives deeper context and a stronger final prompt.

  3. Open your saved work

In Reflection tools, manage that exact reflection: prompts, sharing, exports, and saved work.

  4. Generate your AI prompt

Copy the individual prompt (or couple prompt) into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Llama, or your preferred model.

  5. Export and share intentionally

Download JSON backup, create a therapist brief, or issue a temporary partner code (revocable anytime).

What each area is for

  • Choose a reflection: browse, start, or resume a reflection.
  • Reflection tools: manage saved results, prompts, exports, and sharing.
  • Guides: learn the flow and best practices.
  • Prompt Lab: inspect the exact prompt templates.

Quick or Full — which should I choose?

Quick

Use when you need momentum, a quick pulse-check, or first-pass clarity. Great for a starting point.

Full

Use when accuracy matters most and you want higher-quality AI reflections. Covers every angle.

You can always start Quick and switch to Full later — your Quick answers carry over automatically.

Using your saved work

Reflection tools are your calm control center for one reflection. Once you've answered at least some questions, you can continue, review, share, or export that work without sorting through unrelated screens.

AI Prompt (Individual)

Generates a personalized prompt based on your answers. Copy it, then paste it into any AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) for a tailored reflection. You can preview the full prompt before copying.

Couple Prompt

If your partner also completes the same questionnaire, you can combine both sets of answers. Upload their exported file or enter a partner share code. The AI then sees both perspectives together for deeper insight.

Therapist Brief

Creates a clean, human-readable summary designed for counselors, coaches, or pastoral support. Available as a plain text download or a styled, print-ready HTML page. No technical formatting — just your responses in context.

Export / Import

Download your answers as a JSON file — a structured backup you can store anywhere. You can also import a JSON file to restore answers on a new device or merge partner data.

Partner Sharing

Generate a temporary code (like an invite link) that your partner can enter to pull your answers into their own saved work. Codes expire after a set time (up to 24 hours) and can be revoked anytime — you stay in control.

Cloud Backup

Sign in to save your progress to the cloud. This is entirely optional — the tool works fully offline by default. Cloud backup lets you access your data across devices.

Setting Up Your Account (Optional)

You do not need an account to use any core feature. Accounts are only needed for cloud backup and partner sharing via invite codes.

Email Sign-In (OTP)

  1. Go to Account.
  2. Enter your email address.
  3. Check your email for a one-time code (it arrives within seconds).
  4. Enter the code on the verification screen.
  5. You're signed in — cloud features are now available.

No password needed. A new code is sent each time you sign in.

Passkey (Biometric / Device Sign-In)

  1. Sign in with email OTP first (you need an account to register a passkey).
  2. On the Account page, tap "Add passkey for next time."
  3. Your device will prompt you to use Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, a device PIN/screen lock, or a security key.
  4. Confirm the prompt — your passkey is saved to your device.
  5. Next time, just tap "Use passkey to sign in" — no email needed.

Passkeys use your device’s security check and are designed to resist phishing. Depending on your platform, a passkey may stay on one device or sync through your credential provider.

Privacy model (plain language)

  • Default = local-only in your browser.
  • Cloud backup is optional, not required.
  • Share codes are temporary (up to 24 hours) and revocable.
  • You can always export JSON directly.

When to use the therapist brief export

  • Before counseling or coaching intake.
  • When you want structured context, not a long story dump.
  • When you need an easy PDF/print handoff from saved work.
  • When your therapist asks "what brings you in today" and you want real clarity.

Frequently asked questions

Why does passkey sign-in ask for a PIN or passcode?

That is normally your device security check, not an app password. The exact prompt depends on your platform:

  • Windows + Windows Hello: Hello PIN/biometric.
  • Older Windows + Chrome: Chrome/Google Password Manager PIN prompt.
  • macOS: Touch ID or Mac login password.
  • Security key (YubiKey/TitanKey): touch key, plus key PIN if configured.
What is a .json file and why does this tool use it?

A JSON file is a simple, standard text file that stores data in an organized way. Think of it as a digital filing cabinet — your answers are stored in a clean format that any computer or app can read. We use JSON because it's universal, portable, and human-readable. You can open a .json file in any text editor if you're curious about what's inside.

Why doesn't the AI live inside the app?

Two important reasons:

  1. Keeping it free. Running AI models costs money per use. By letting you paste your prompt into your own AI account (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.), the tool stays completely free for everyone — no subscriptions, no paywalls.
  2. Your AI already knows you. If you use ChatGPT or Claude regularly, those models already have context about you. By pasting your Ready for Us prompt into your own conversation, the AI can combine your questionnaire insights with everything else it already knows about you — giving you a richer, more personalized reflection than a built-in AI ever could.
Which AI model should I use?

Any conversational AI will work. The prompt is designed to be model-agnostic. Popular choices:

  • ChatGPT (OpenAI) — widely available, strong conversational ability.
  • Claude (Anthropic) — thoughtful, nuanced responses.
  • Gemini (Google) — integrated with Google services.
  • Grok (xAI) — direct, unfiltered style.
  • Llama / local models — maximum privacy, runs on your own device.

Use whichever model you already talk to. The prompt works the same everywhere.

Is my data safe?

Yes. By default, everything stays in your browser — nothing leaves your device unless you choose to enable cloud backup or share with a partner. Even then, you choose what to back up or share, and you can remove active cloud data from your account controls. No data is ever sold, and nothing personally identifiable is used for purposes outside your account.

Full details are in our Legal & Privacy page.

Can I use this without creating an account?

Absolutely. The core experience — taking questionnaires, generating AI prompts, exporting therapist briefs, and downloading your data — works entirely without an account. Accounts are only needed for cloud backup and partner invite codes.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

If you haven't signed in, your answers live only in your browser. Clearing browser data or cookies will erase them. To protect against this:

  • Export a JSON backup from saved work (you can re-import it any time).
  • Sign in to enable cloud backup — your data syncs automatically.
Can my partner see my answers?

Only if you explicitly share them. Partner sharing uses a temporary code that you generate, and you choose how long it lasts (up to 24 hours). You can revoke it anytime. Your partner sees only the specific questionnaire you shared — nothing else.

Why are there different reflections?

Different moments call for different questions. Ready for Us offers reflections for where you are right now — whether you are recovering after an ending, exploring a new connection, or building something more established. Start wherever feels useful.

What is the Prompt Lab?

Prompt Lab lets you see the exact templates that generate your AI prompts. You can inspect the role framing, context statements, output format, and constraints before you ever paste anything into an AI model. Full transparency — nothing is hidden.
